EIA-232-D,
sometimes referred to as RS-232 or V.24, uses a DB25 male connector. The
pin outs are similar to those used by the Acceleport asynchronous adapters,
but here we are using a few more signals, specifically for transmit and
receive clocks.
The maximum data rate for this cable type is 128kbps, but is most stable at rates of 56 to 64kbps.
Note: The EIA-530 and one of the V.35 cabling options use a DB25 female connector, and can be easily confused. The PCI Sync adapters are capable of determining the cable type attached to a port, and each OS has a version of the Port Assist Viewer that can be used to verify the cable type in place. The SYNC/570i UIB cables are plainly labeled on the DB25 end of the cable.
